Uber One free trial: four weeks free, and every way to pay less after

Uber One is the one delivery membership that covers two apps, Uber Eats and Uber rides, and the trial is four weeks rather than DoorDash's thirty days. Here is what you get, how to start the trial, how to make sure it never bills you, and the handful of ways to keep it free or cheap afterward. Prices and terms are as of the update date above; Uber changes the rides benefit more often than the food one.

What Uber One costs

  • $9.99 a month, the price since it launched in 2021.
  • About $96 a year on the annual plan. Uber doesn't print the annual price on the public page, so take the number the app shows you at signup.
  • Students: $4.99 a month after the same four-week trial, with age and enrollment verification. No annual student plan.

What it includes right now

  • $0 delivery fee on Uber Eats orders over the store's minimum (the app says $15) from participating restaurants and stores, for standard delivery within a few miles.
  • Reduced service fees and up to 10% off delivery and pickup orders over the minimum. In practice the service-fee cut is the bigger of the two on a normal order.
  • 5% back on rides as Uber One credits, which expire 60 days after they land. This was 6% until Uber cut it in August 2026, and the membership page also lists surge savings and top-rated drivers.
  • 10% back on car rentals and hotels booked through Uber, plus member-only promos in the Deals tab and Fresh Tuesday grocery discounts.
  • Family sharing: one other adult and any number of teens on your plan at no extra cost, except on the student, trial and partner-funded plans.

Partner-funded memberships (the Amex and Apple Card routes below) may leave out some of these; Uber says so on the page without saying which.

The free trial, and its rules

  1. Open the Uber Eats or Uber app, tap Account, then Uber One, then Try free. Pick monthly or annual; the trial is the same four weeks either way, and what you pick is what it renews at.
  2. It's for first-time members only. Uber's terms allow one trial or promotional subscription per user, ever. If you've had Uber One before, the button says Join instead of Try.
  3. Set a reminder for day 26. Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing. Cancel and the benefits stop immediately, so cancel after your last order of the month, not before.
  4. Had it before and want another go? Uber sends re-join offers to lapsed members, in the app and by email. That's the only sanctioned second trial, and you can't ask for it.

Every way to get Uber One free or cheap

Amex Platinum. Since the September 2025 refresh, the Platinum card gives up to $120 a year in statement credits for an auto-renewing Uber One charged to the card, monthly or annual. No enrollment, but you have to switch the payment method off Uber Cash so the card is actually charged, and credits take up to eight weeks to post. The card separately gives $15 a month in Uber Cash plus $20 in December, so Platinum holders effectively get the membership and $200 a year of orders.

Amex Gold. No Uber One credit, but $10 a month in Uber Cash, which covers the membership if you'd rather spend it that way.

Apple Card. A six-month free trial for new or returning members, signed up through Uber's Apple Card page with Apple Pay as the payment method. Monthly plan only, $9.99 after. The one route that works if you've had Uber One before.

Students. Four weeks free, then $4.99 a month. That halves the break-even below.

Black Friday. Uber has discounted the annual plan heavily at the end of November in past years: 60% off in 2023, a targeted 60% off in 2024. There was no membership-price deal in 2025, only gift-card and retail discounts for members. If one runs this year, it goes on my Black Friday delivery deals page the morning it appears.

Gone, so you don't waste time: the Capital One Savor and Quicksilver Uber One benefit ended in November 2024, the Venmo five-months-free deal ended in March 2026, and the Delta SkyMiles Amex credits expired in June 2026.

Cancelling, pausing, refunds

  • Cancel: Account, then Uber One, then Manage Membership, then End Membership, then confirm. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel it there.
  • Pause: up to four times a year, at least 24 hours before a billing date. Useful for a month you're away.
  • Refunds: Uber's terms say charges are non-refundable, with one automatic exception: cancel within the 24 hours before a renewal and get charged anyway, and the refund is automatic. Otherwise it's a support request and a judgment call on their end.

Is it worth $9.99 after the trial?

Work it out from your own receipts. Find the delivery fee on your last few Uber Eats orders; it depends on distance and city, so your number is the only one that matters. Divide $9.99 by it. For most people the fee is a few dollars, which puts the break-even at roughly two to three Uber Eats orders a month, and the lower service fee, which is a percentage of the subtotal, pulls it a little earlier on big orders.

Rides move it faster. Five percent back is small per trip, but a weekly ride adds up alongside the food side, and that's the case DashPass can't make.

  • Order Uber Eats two or three times a month or more, or ride regularly: keep it.
  • Once a month and no rides: cancel on day 26 and use the existing-user deals instead.

Stacking: a promo code takes money off the food, Uber One removes the delivery fee, and the two stack. It doesn't stack with a "$0 delivery" code, because there's nothing left to remove. The codes that applied this morning are on the Uber Eats page.

Questions I get asked a lot

How long is the Uber One free trial?

Four weeks, for people who have never had Uber One. Students get the same four weeks and then pay $4.99 a month instead of $9.99. Apple Card holders can get six months through Uber's Apple Card page, and that one is open to returning members too.

Can I get a second Uber One free trial?

Not the standard one. Uber's terms allow one trial or promotional subscription per user. The exceptions are offers Uber sends you to re-join, which show up in the app or by email after you cancel, and the Apple Card trial, which Uber says is for new or returning members.

How do I cancel Uber One before it charges me?

In the app: Account, then Uber One, then Manage Membership, then End Membership, and confirm. Do it before the trial's last day. Benefits stop the moment you cancel, so use the trial up first. If you were billed through Apple or Google, cancel it in that subscription list instead.

Is Uber One free with Amex Platinum?

Close to it. Since September 2025 the Platinum card gives up to $120 a year in statement credits for an auto-renewing Uber One paid with the card, which covers the monthly plan. You have to turn Uber Cash off as the payment method so the card itself is charged. That is on top of the card's monthly Uber Cash.

Will Uber refund me if I forgot to cancel?

Uber's terms say membership charges are non-refundable, with one exception: if you cancel within the 24 hours before a renewal and were already charged, Uber refunds it automatically. Outside that, ask support in the app; it is at their discretion.

Does Uber One cover Postmates?

Yes. Postmates runs on Uber's system, and the delivery benefits apply there with the same account.
