DashPass free trial: 30 days free, and eight ways to keep it free
DashPass is the membership more people pay for by accident than any other, because the trial is thirty days and the renewal is quiet. Here is what it includes as of the update date above, how the trial works, the routes that make it free for a year or more, and the exact steps to cancel before it bills you.

What DashPass costs
- $9.99 a month or $96 a year, plus tax. The monthly price hasn't changed since DashPass launched in 2018.
- Students: $4.99 a month or $48 a year with in-app verification, one student plan per person. DoorDash ran a free student year for signups between Aug 17 and Oct 12, 2026; that window is closed.
- The annual-plan upsell: at checkout, new members who pick the annual plan are offered 10% off their next three orders. That's the only standing DashPass promo on DoorDash's own pages right now.
What it includes right now
- $0 delivery fees on orders of $12 or more in food ($10 in some metros) from DashPass restaurants and stores, which is most of them.
- Reduced service fees and up to 10% off eligible orders. The service-fee cut is the part that shows up on every order.
- 5% back on pickup orders as DoorDash credit, capped at $100 an order and $600 a year, and not earned on an order that already has a promo on it.
- DashPass-only promos in the Offers tab, and priority support.
- On the annual plan: HBO Max With Ads included at no extra cost, for the account holder.
- Lyft perks once you link accounts: 5% off on-demand rides, 10% off scheduled airport rides, two priority-pickup upgrades a month, and $10 off two rides in the first two weeks after linking.
- Waymo: $10 off one weekday ride a month in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Phoenix through the end of 2026.
The free trial, and its rules
- In the app, tap Account, then the Get $0 delivery fees with DashPass banner, pick monthly or annual, and start. Thirty days free, then it renews at whichever plan you picked.
- It's for accounts that have never had DashPass, free or paid. A trial five years ago counts. DoorDash also reserves the right to change who's eligible without notice, so a missing Try button isn't always your history.
- Cancelling during the trial ends the benefits immediately, so cancel after your last order of the trial, not before. Set the reminder for day 28.
- A second trial comes only through a partner: Lyft gives three months if you've had no DashPass in the previous six, Disney+ Perks six months if none in the previous three, Google Play Points Platinum six months once per Play account.
Eight ways to get DashPass free or cheap
- Chase Sapphire Reserve or Preferred: free through December 31, 2029, with a $10 non-restaurant promo every month and, on the Reserve, a $15 any-order promo every month since October 2026. Activate on Chase's DoorDash page by the end of 2029.
- Other Chase co-brand cards (airline, hotel and similar, not the Amazon or Instacart cards): 12 months free, then $9.99 a month; activate by the end of 2027. Sapphire Reserve for Business and Ink Business Preferred: free through 2027.
- Chase Freedom and Slate: six months free, then $9.99 a month, plus a $10 non-restaurant promo each quarter. Activate by the end of 2029.
- DoorDash Rewards Mastercard: no annual fee, a free year of DashPass, then it renews at $96 a year unless you cancel; plus 10% off one non-restaurant order a month through March 2027.
- T-Mobile: a free year through the T-Life app, one per account, on eligible plans. The 2026 claim window was June 30 to July 14; customers on the newer Experience plans can claim it in their first 30 days. T-Mobile has repeated the offer around Thanksgiving in past years.
- Lyft riders: three months free after linking accounts, if you've had no DashPass in the previous six months.
- Students: $4.99 a month or $48 a year, which halves the break-even.
- Black Friday: DoorDash has sold the annual plan at $59 in past holiday windows and discounted DashPass gift subscriptions. In 2025 the Black Friday deal was 25% off DoorDash gift cards for members instead. Whatever runs this year goes on the Black Friday delivery deals page the morning it appears.
For every card route: add the card as your default DoorDash payment method directly, not through Apple Pay or Google Pay, end any paid DashPass first, and then activate. A US address is required, and only one DashPass plan can be on an account at a time.
Gone: the Mastercard World Elite three-month trial ended in 2022, the Roku and Chegg offers in 2023 and 2024, and the $4.99 SNAP/EBT plan was a 2024 holiday offer.
Cancelling, and the refund question
- Cancel: account icon, then Manage DashPass, then Cancel Membership, choose a reason, then Cancel DashPass, then Got it. At least 24 hours before the next payment date.
- On a trial, benefits end immediately. On a paid plan, they run to the end of the billing cycle.
- Refunds after a forgotten trial: DoorDash doesn't publish a policy. Ask support in the app the same day; people report it's likelier if no benefit was used in the new cycle, and I can't promise more than that.
Is it worth $9.99 after the trial?
Pull up your last few DoorDash receipts and find the delivery fee. Divide $9.99 by it. If the answer is two or three and you order that often, DashPass pays for itself; if you order once a month, it doesn't, and the existing-user deals are the better bet. The longer version, with the pickup credit and the service-fee math, is in is DashPass worth it.
Stacking: promo codes take money off the food and DashPass removes the delivery fee, so they stack. A discounted DoorDash gift card stacks with both, because it's payment, not a promotion. The codes that applied this morning are on the DoorDash page.
Questions I get asked a lot
How long is the DashPass free trial?
Thirty days for anyone who has never had DashPass, free or paid. Partner trials are longer: three months through Lyft, six months through Google Play Points Platinum or Disney+ Perks when those are running, and a free year on Chase co-brand cards, the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard and T-Mobile's perk.
Can I get a second DashPass free trial?
Not the standard one; it checks whether the account ever had DashPass at all. The partner offers have their own rules: Lyft's three months needs no DashPass in the previous six months, Disney+ Perks needs none in the previous three. The Chase cards don't care about history; they just need you to end any paid plan first.
How do I cancel DashPass so I'm not charged?
In the app or on the site: the account icon, then Manage DashPass, then Cancel Membership, pick a reason, then Cancel DashPass. Do it at least 24 hours before the next payment date. On a trial, benefits end the moment you cancel; on a paid month they run to the end of the cycle.
Is DashPass free with Chase Sapphire?
Yes. Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Preferred holders get DashPass free through the end of 2029, plus monthly promos: a $10 non-restaurant credit on both cards, and on the Reserve a $15 monthly any-order promo since October 2026. Add the card as your default DoorDash payment (not through Apple or Google Pay), end any paid DashPass, and activate from the Chase benefits page.
What is the DashPass minimum order?
$12 in food before fees at most DashPass restaurants, and $10 in some metros such as Los Angeles, Dallas and Phoenix. The minimum has varied by store and time of day since 2022, so check the DashPass line on the restaurant page before you count on it.
Does DashPass work on Caviar?
Yes, with the same login. Caviar is DoorDash's restaurant-only app in about twenty cities, and a DashPass subscription carries over.
