Grubhub+ free trial: 30 days free, or free for good with Prime
Grubhub+ is the easy one. If you have Amazon Prime, it's included, permanently, and takes two minutes to turn on. If you don't, there's a 30-day trial and a $9.99 month after it, and since February 2026 a rule that makes the membership matter less than it used to: any restaurant order over $50 has no delivery or service fee for anyone. Here is the whole picture as of the update date above.

Free with Amazon Prime: how to turn it on
- Go to amazon.com/grubhub and sign in to Amazon. Prime, Prime Student and Prime Access all qualify.
- Activate the offer and link your Grubhub account, or make one. It's a one-time step.
- Open Grubhub and the Grubhub+ badge is on. It stays on as long as Prime does, with no renewal into a paid plan.
Already paying for Grubhub+? Link anyway. The paid plan ends at the next billing cycle and the Prime version takes over. Amazon has also run Prime-only Grubhub codes a few times a year, like $10 off $20 in October 2025 and 50% off up to $20 in July 2025; when one is live it's on the Grubhub page with the test result.
What Grubhub+ costs without Prime
- $9.99 a month plus tax, the price since it launched in 2020.
- Annual plan: the terms say one exists, and Grubhub doesn't publish the price; third parties cite about $90. Take the number the app shows you.
- Students: free at participating campuses through Grubhub Campus Dining, with a campus card or school email, then $9.99 a month after graduation.
What it includes right now
- $0 delivery fee on orders from eligible restaurants over the subtotal minimum, which has been $12 in food before tax, tip and fees.
- Lower service fees, discounted priority delivery, and 5% back on pickup orders as Grubhub+ credit, which expires 90 days after the last credit was issued.
- $0 delivery on grocery orders placed through Grubhub's Instacart-powered grocery section since May 2026, though service fees still apply there.
- Member-only Perks in the app, and the occasional Prime-only code.
The $50 rule. Since February 2, 2026, Grubhub waives both the delivery fee and the service fee on restaurant orders over $50 for everyone. Grubhub calls it permanent. It means Grubhub+ only earns its keep on orders under $50, which for a one- or two-person order is still most of them.
The free trial, and its rules
- In the app, tap the account icon, then Grubhub+, then Try free. Thirty days, then $9.99 a month, charged automatically.
- One promotional offer per account and per household. A roommate who used the trial at your address can cost you yours.
- Cancelled once, no trial again. Grubhub's terms say an account whose membership was terminated for any reason isn't eligible for a free or promotional trial later. Prime is the only way back to free.
- Grubhub decides trial length at its discretion, so some accounts see shorter or different offers. On Cyber Monday 2025 some members were emailed a full free year; if that repeats it's on the Black Friday delivery deals page the morning it lands.
Other ways to get it free or cheap
- Campus Dining: free for students at participating schools, through the campus card or .edu login in the app.
- Bilt: since March 2026, Bilt members can redeem $10 a month of Bilt Cash toward Grubhub orders, $120 a year. That's order credit, not the membership, but it covers the fee if you'd rather.
- Gone: the 99-cents-a-month Gold Days intro ended May 31, 2026; the Bank of America free year was 2022; the Instacart+ bundle expired years ago. No credit card currently includes Grubhub+ the way Chase includes DashPass.
Cancelling, and refunds
- App: account icon, then Grubhub+ membership, then Manage Membership, then Cancel membership. Website: account menu, then Grubhub+, then Cancel membership.
- Cancel at least 24 hours before the next payment; Grubhub's own example is 11:59pm Eastern the day before.
- Prime-linked: on Amazon, go to Manage apps and services with data access and remove Grubhub, or ask Grubhub support to unlink; either ends it immediately.
- Refunds: the terms say none, and no partial credits, unless Grubhub decides otherwise. Dispute an unauthorized charge within 60 days. Cancel a day early instead.
Is it worth $9.99 without Prime?
Only on orders under $50, because of the fee waiver above. Find the delivery fee on your last few sub-$50 Grubhub orders and divide $9.99 by it; two or three such orders a month is the break-even, a little sooner with the service-fee cut. If you mostly place big group orders, you're already fee-free and the membership adds the pickup credit and Perks, which isn't much.
Stacking: percentage-off codes stack with Grubhub+; free-delivery codes don't, because there's no fee left to remove. Grubhub runs more existing-user codes than any app I test, and this morning's results are on the Grubhub page.
Questions I get asked a lot
How long is the Grubhub+ free trial?
Thirty days, then $9.99 a month, for accounts that have never had a Grubhub+ promotion. Amazon Prime members skip the trial question entirely: Grubhub+ is included with Prime for as long as Prime lasts, with no renewal into a paid plan.
Is Grubhub+ really free with Amazon Prime?
Yes, since May 2024, and it doesn't expire. Activate it once at amazon.com/grubhub with your Amazon login; Prime, Prime Student and Prime Access all qualify. If you already pay for Grubhub+, link the accounts and the paid plan ends at the next cycle.
Can I get a second Grubhub+ free trial?
No. Grubhub's terms allow one promotional offer per account and per household, and an account whose membership was ever cancelled isn't eligible for a free trial on a new one. The Prime route is the way back in.
How do I cancel Grubhub+ before it charges me?
In the app: the account icon, then Grubhub+ membership, then Manage Membership, then Cancel membership. On the website it's the account menu, then Grubhub+, then Cancel membership. Do it at least 24 hours before the next payment. If your membership came through Prime, cancel it on Amazon under Manage apps and services with data access, or unlink from Grubhub support.
What's the Grubhub+ minimum order?
Grubhub's terms point to the FAQ for the number; the figure Amazon and Grubhub used when the Prime offer launched was $12 in food before tax, tip and fees. And since February 2026, any restaurant order over $50 has no delivery or service fee for anyone, member or not.
Will Grubhub refund a membership charge?
The terms say members aren't eligible for refunds on Grubhub+ charges and there are no partial credits, unless Grubhub decides otherwise. Unauthorized charges can be disputed within 60 days. Cancel a day early rather than counting on a refund.
