Uber Eats promo code for new users: why it keeps saying "not eligible"
"This promotion is not eligible for your account" is Uber's way of saying it doesn't believe you're new. Here is how it decides, because it isn't your email address.
What the new-user offer is
As of this writing, the Uber Eats app shows new accounts $15 off a first order with a $20 minimum. It attaches at sign-up. A bigger "new user" code on a coupon site is old or for another city.
Uber Eats and Uber are one account
If you've ever taken an Uber ride, you're not a new Uber Eats customer. The first-order food offer fails, and no amount of new emails changes that, because the phone number is the account. This catches more people than anything else.
Postmates counts too
Uber bought Postmates in 2020. A Postmates account with your phone number means you've used Uber's new-user offer already. The two apps share one. (Postmates' own first-order offer, $25 off the first two deliveries, is usually handed out as targeted credits, not a public code.)
The card and the address have a memory
Even with a new phone number, a card that has paid for an Uber or Uber Eats order before will trip it. So will an address another Uber account has used.
Minimum order is before fees
The $15 off needs $20 of food in the cart. Fees and tip don't count, and the error message is the same.
What to do if you're genuinely new and it still fails
- Make sure you're in the Uber Eats app, not the Uber app's food tab, which sometimes drops the promo.
- Enter a code under Account, then Promotions, before checkout, not in the checkout box.
- Check the "checked" time on my Uber Eats page to make sure the code didn't die overnight.
What to do if you're not new
The Uber One free month is the real existing-user deal. It wipes delivery fees on Uber Eats and discounts rides, and you can cancel before it renews. The rest is on the existing users page.
